Now for something a little different. In case you hadn’t all noticed, we live in one of, if not THE most beautiful cities in the world. And we are probably all guilty of not taking full advantage of all the sights and activities that are right on our doorsteps. So why not combine this wonderful city of ours with meeting a fellow Swan for some dates. We’re taking dating out of the box (instead of meeting in a bar for a drink), read on for some inspirational ideas for something a little different.
Like adventure? Then why not hire a tandem kayak at Rose Bay and paddle over to Shark Island for a romantic picnic for two. Pack your swimmers, picnic and bottle of bubbles and you’re all sorted. Just don’t go too crazy on the bubbles when you get there or it could be an interesting paddle home…
Only a short hour drive from Sydney, is the amazing Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Hike around the track from Resolute to Mackerel beach (only accessible by boat) and these hidden gems will not disappoint. Explore the views and enjoy the nature with your fellow Swan and forget all the pressures that some people experience on those important first few dates.
The factory theater in Marrickville hosts an array of live music and performances - from international rock concerts to intimate cabaret shows, film and dance. With shows on every night of the week, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
For the bargain price of $39, Seasydneyharbour.com.au offer sunset sparkle cruises around the harbor in a catamaran. What better way to finish a days work with a midweek date, and spend the evening sailing around the harbour soaking up the sunset while swirling down some BYO bubbles.
Shhhh this is actually Sydney’s best kept secret! Climbing the South East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge gives you almost the same harbour views as you get from climbing the main structure, but for a fraction of the cost. You do have to climb 200 steps to get there, but after the little burst of exercise, the views 87 meters above sea level are well worth it.
We’re not just talking about any old cinema though. We are talking about a floating cinema on a boat in Sydney harbour. Yes that’s what we said! Awesome right? The only downside is that it’s only on in the spring-summer months, but alas if you’re reading this in winter, it gives you plenty of time to find a date before then.
The inner west is now bustling with cool hangouts - Willy the boatman, Batch Brewery, Stockade and many more. Make yourself feel like you are back in Blighty and take yourselves out on an old-school pub crawl. You can’t fail to have fun. Plus, a bunch of the breweries have food trucks to line your stomachs before sampling your way through the ales.
The Imperial Hotel in Erskinville is home to Priscillas, Drag N Dine, Sydney's most flamboyant and fabulous dinner show. Need we say more. Get yourself there for big wigs, big chests and great legs all round, there is something for all and laughs a plenty at these shows. It’s also a great to get to know your fellow Swan’s sense of humour, and that can never be a bad thing!
And there you have it. Reasons galore to get out into this wonderful city of ours and combine them with other Swans to kill two birds with one stone - enjoy!
